![]() It was difficult, for a time, to take the movie seriously after that. There was a moment that made me immediately think of a sketch from an online comedy troupe: as protagonist Brendan (Charlie Hofheimer) begins to note irregularities in memory and perception, I was reminded of a skit in which a detective character finds every meaninglessly mundane object to be a profound revelation, with appropriately melodramatic accompanying sound cues. The movie almost lost me at a couple points very early on. There are things I like about 'The Mandela effect,' and things I don't. Add scientific and programming jargon to foster a sense of sophistication, emotional story beats to keep viewers invested - and that's a movie. ![]() Theoretical physics, fringe theories, conspiracy theories, and the phenomenon of shared false memories collide.
